Visit us on Facebook - facebook.com/ToowoombaRC.
The use of social media sites by Toowoomba Regional Council allows us to exchange information with our ratepayers, residents, other members of the community and visitors. These sites are designed to be non-political and to deal with the everyday issues of local government.
Our social media sites will not be used for any political campaigning or commentary. Any comments about the next council election or individual candidates will be promptly removed. However, we welcome any comments or feedback about council services or day-to-day operations. As is our current practice, these postings will be responded to on a case-by-case basis.
We use social media sites such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter to complement information already on our council website. While we encourage discussion as 'open to comment' pages, we moderate comments to exclude anything that is deemed rude, offensive or inappropriate.
We do not encourage noticeboard type content on council pages, and will remove notices that are promoting events or causes. There are other pages on Facebook that are dedicated to spreading your word about your business and events.
Council actively promotes the use of the Toowoomba Region Events register - a free resource for the sharing of local events.
If you wish to contact council in an urgent, detailed or private manner please call our customer service team on 131 TRC.
It may not be cool to 'like' or 'follow' council, but if you are a social media user and you like the mobile age of communication, we invite you to participate.
Council staff contribute to some Facebook pages relating to special areas of interest:
- Toowoomba Library Young People's team
- Toowoomba Local History Library
- Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers
- Youth Connect
You can find links to these other council pages in the 'likes' section of our main Facebook page.
