Our region What's on Special days

The Toowoomba Regional Council is a proud supporter of Australia Day, coordinating and assisting local committees in planning and conducting Australia Day events. Council does not influence the selection of award winners. The Awards are administered by local committees, a coordinating committee and an awards committee on behalf of the Toowoomba Regional Council.

Australia Day Citizen, Young Citizen, Community Group / Event, Cultural and Sporting Awards are presented annually on Australia Day to local citizens and groups who have made outstanding contributions to their community. The Awards operate at two levels – local and regional. Local selection committees select each local award category winner, with the awards committee selecting the regional award winners. A special award is made to recognise leadership from the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community.

The nomination form, selection criteria, guidelines and hints can be found in the 'Related documents' area below.

The area's agricultural shows display the quality of produce, livestock and talent found in this region alongside some great open air entertainment.  The largest of these is the Toowoomba Royal Show being held on 29 March - 31 March 2012.

The proposed dates of other shows in the broader region are listed below.
