Crows Nest is a country town located 44kms north-east of Toowoomba on the New England highway with a population of 1,571. Although located in the region defined as the Darling Downs, the Crows Nest area is hilly country, situated in the Great Dividing Range on the eastern edge of the Downs.

There is a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafes as well as galleries both in around the town. The town has day care facilities, a primary school and secondary school. Crows Nest has a local library and Folk Museum & village. There is also a medical centre. Sporting facilities include; an indoor sports centre; swimming pool; a golf course and two bowls clubs.

Crows Nest has a pleasant climate and natural beauty, and offers a multitude of outdoor adventures such as: bird watching trails; tourist drives; and bike, horse and soft 4WD trails. The Toowoomba region's three dams (Cressbrook, Perseverance & Cooby) are also located nearby and offer a wide range of activities.
