Our region Major projects Flood recovery (NDRRA) Crows Nest pedestrian bridges

Onsite works are scheduled to recommence on Bullocky's Rest pedestrian bridges on May 22.

The site of the new bridges is very close to vital communication and water services. To ensure these services are not impacted in any way, the bridge design has had to be adjusted.

This has resulted in a further delay to construction for which council apologises. Bridge contractor FK Gardner and Sons will continue to provide regular updates to local residents during the bridge works.

Two previously identified trees will also be removed and a stormwater pipe installed.

Due to necessary lane closures, motorists can expect some delays along the New England Highway while works are underway. Construction works are expected to take up to eight weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Council constructed the footpath approaches to within 20 metres of the footbridge as part of its capital works program (not part of the NDRRA funding).

Pedestrian access will be limited around the worksite and a detour will be clearly signed to ensure pedestrian safety during construction. Construction works will be undertaken between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday (weather permitting).

Traffic controllers will be in place on the New England Highway between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. Use of heavy machinery will be limited to between the hours of 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Please take care when travelling through the area. Safety is our number one priority.

Local residents will be advised of any out-of-hours works. Further updates will be provided throughout construction to keep residents informed of progress and activities that may cause disruption.

While council will make every effort to minimise disruption to the local community, it thanks Crows Nest residents for their cooperation and patience.
