Laws & permits Parking, roads & footpaths

ParkingParking areas are maintained and regulated by Toowoomba Regional Council through State legislation and Local Laws.

These controls aim to improve safety and convenience for our community and for visitors to the region through improved traffic management.

On 1 January 2012, council changed its local laws which affect parking across the region. Details of the new local law can be found in Laws & permits - Local laws - View subordinate local laws - Subordinate Local Law No. 5 (Parking) 2011.

Areas of possible interest include:

  1. Parking fine amounts have been increased. Amounts for each fine type can be found in Related documents (at the bottom of the page) - 'Parking fine amounts'. For example:

    • Exceeding maximum indicated time on a free but limited parking area is now $50.

This involves completing this form and posting or dropping it into Council.

Most internal reviews will be completed within 14 days; however the process can take up to 90 days or longer if additional information is required. A letter will be sent to you advising the outcome of the review process.
