Livestock is the term used to refer to farm animals or those animals used for cultivation for food, fibre or labour. These animals include cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, camels, goats, deer, llama and the like. For the protection of the animals and the local environment, Toowoomba Regional Council has a number of minimum standards, Local Laws and owner responsibilities which must be met in keeping of livestock.

Many Toowoomba residents own poultry and/or birds for a variety of reasons, including companionship and special interest. For further information about the keeping of birds and poultry, please refer the your nearest service centre.

You can keep up to 50 birds including budgerigars, pigeons or any other kind of bird not of a class included in poultry, where the land on which they are kept has an area less than 2000m2 (1/2 acre).
