At 531 Ruthven Street, the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery is the oldest public art gallery in regional Queensland was established in Toowoomba in 1938.
The new, specifically designed Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery opened in March 1994, and is owned and maintained by council.
Admission is free and access for the disabled is from street level, with a lift leading to the upper floor.

Please note that The Gallery Shop closes at 3:45pm - ie 15 minutes before the Gallery closes.

The Gallery Shop carries an ever changing array of gift ideas and art works at reasonable prices. Access is from Ruthven Street or through the Gallery. Ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery, woodwork, prints, and hand made cards are displayed. Visitors can browse at their leisure and choose from the varied works of regional and interstate artists to find a special item with unique appeal. |

Events such as lectures, public forums, workshops, demonstrations, floor talks and guided tours are presented.
Groups are welcome and, to enable preparation for their visit, are advised to book at least two weeks ahead by telephoning the gallery on (07) 4688 6652.
There is emphasis on youth involvement through specially organised activities designed for student groups. These cater for ages from pre-school to the tertiary sector. The Artist-In-Residence program offers patrons the opportunity to interact directly with artists.
The gallery also runs education programs for artists which assist them in such important matters as how to prepare for an exhibition. |

Artists and arts enthusiasts across the Toowoomba region stand to benefit from up to $205,000 in Regional Arts Development Funding (RADF) available over the 2008/2009 financial year.
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Government and Toowoomba Regional Council partnership to support local arts and culture, enabling professional and emerging artists and cultural workers to develop projects for and with communities for mutual benefits.

RADF
The Toowoomba Regional Council supports the state government's RADF (Regional Arts Development Fund) initiative.
This fund supports and aids the development of arts and culture at a local level throughout regional Queensland and provides funding to individuals and organisations for one-off, short-term projects that offer arts, cultural and heritage development opportunities. The program helps to increase the sustainability of creative industries and to improve the quality of life through community cultural development. |
