  • Grew up on a property "Parkhurst' near Moonie (the first commercial oil field in Australia)
  • Married to Rosemary with three children Simon, Daniel and Amelia
  • Lived and worked on the Darling Downs for over 30 years
  • Owner/operator of agricultural business specialising in zero till and strip farming

  • Commercial pilot
  • Qualified company director (FAICD)
  • Certificate of Development Practice from University of Queensland
  • Studying part-time towards a Masters of Development Practice

  • Previous Mayor of Jondaryan Shire Council
  • Director and past chairman of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) - LGAQ is the peak body for all local governments in Queensland
  • Director of LG Super (a major superannuation group with funds under management approaching $4b)
  • A member of numerous State and Federal Government advisory committees
  • Past chairman of the Darling Downs Local Government Association (DDLGA)
  • Past chairman of the Eastern Darling Downs Regional Organisation of Councils (EDROC)
  • Past chairman of the Toowoomba Regional Council Transition Committee. (This committee coordinated the arrangements for a smooth transition of operations from the eight existing councils to the Toowoomba Regional Council)
