As the Principal Engineer – Engineering Asset Management you will be assisting the Manager in exercising regional functional responsibility for developing, implementing and improving asset management plans for engineering assets (including roads, drainage and buildings) in accordance with current best practice (such as the IPWEA International Infrastructure Management Manual), and to satisfy the requirements of the Local Government Act 2009 (Part 3 Financial sustainability and accountability). You will develop, implement and improve regional asset management strategies, systems and practices for the optimised provision, maintenance and renewal or replacement of engineering assets, provide expert advice to assist in developing detailed programs and forward financial plans for the optimised provision, maintenance and renewal or replacement of engineering assets, taking into account condition assessment, timely intervention and whole of life cycle costs.
You will provide expert advice to assist in developing and implementing appropriate technological solutions for engineering asset management, asset maintenance and asset data systems and related business processes. You will periodically report on the implementation of engineering asset management and the status of improvement plans and activities fr corporate reporting and for statutory compliance.
Other duties include ensuring that effective working relationships are developed and maintained within the department, with other relevant Council departments and branches and with external stakeholders and provide leadership, supervision, support and mentoring to enable staff productivity and continuous improvement by solving problems, removing obstacles and fostering teamwork and cooperative processes, whilst building team technical capability and capacity for integration, cooperation, conflict resolution and problem solving.
Qualifications required are:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from a recognised University with extensive relevant experience.
- Possession of current Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (Civil) registration or ability to obtain registration within three months of appointment.
- Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia, or eligibility for such membership.
- Possession of a postgraduate qualification in management is desirable.

Salary: Level 8 - Base Salary $78,370 - $88,446 gross per annum under the Local Government Officers' Award - State 1998 plus 12.2% superannuation, 17.5% annual leave loading, Restricted Private Use Vehicle and 12.5% Retention Bonus (Prorated for 2009 Calendar Year).
