Toowoomba Regional Council will extend eligibility rules for the dual flush toilet rebate for residential dwellings from November 1.

The rebate applies to replacing older and larger dual flush toilets with a 9 litre/4.5 litre or greater capacity.

The rebate continues for replacing single flush toilets, along with all other council WaterWise rebates. Single flush toilets need to be replaced with a 4.5 litre / 3 litre (4-Star WELS rated) dual flush toilet suite.

Council provides a $100 rebate toward the purchase and installation of a 4.5 litre/3 litre dual flush toilet suite for residential properties supplied with reticulated water within council boundaries. Limits do apply.

Steps for home owners:

1. Ensure the replacement toilet suite is a 4.5 litre/3 litre (4-Star WELS rated) dual flush toilet suite. This rebate is for the replacement of the entire toilet suite, which includes the cistern and pan. A maximum of two rebates can be claimed per property.
   • NOTE: the rebate does not apply to:
     • Replacement of 6 litre/3 litre dual flush toilets,
     • New housing constructions,
     • Commercial or industrial properties.
2. The work must be completed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002. The plumber must complete and sign the declaration on the application form. Penalties apply for incorrect installation.
