Is your lack of computer skills jeopardising your employment prospects or inhibiting your personal communication?

Help is at hand with computer classes at the Oakey Community Neighbourhood Centre (next to the Oakey Library) being offered for six weeks from Monday, November 2.

The course is being provided by The Knowledge Factory, an initiative of YWCA Downs and South West, in partnership with Employment Solutions and Toowoomba Regional Council. The first class will be held on November 2 starting at 9:30 am. The classes aim to provide exposure to computers and the Internet to those who have not had the opportunity or resources to learn computer skills.

Course content includes an introduction to hardware and software in a Windows based computer, personal security both online and in updating software, establishing online email accounts, searching job sites online, installing software applications and checking email accounts. It is hoped that over the six week period the added exposure to computers and extra Internet online time will make people confident enough to carry on using computers as a means of broadening their outlook.

Clients of employment agencies will have priority, and should contact their agency direct to book a spot. Others in the community should contact the Oakey Service Centre on 4691 1138 in they are interested.

For more information, contact David Totenhofer on 4692 0148.
