Thursday's (29 October) special meeting of Toowoomba Regional Council approved minor amendments to infrastructure policies aimed at clarifying the policies for the development industry.
According to Mayor Peter Taylor, the amendments were minor changes to wording that would reduce confusion for those using the policies.
“The process of development and implementation of the planning scheme policies for infrastructure contributions over recent months has been complex.
“So it will be important for us to continue communication with the development industry as the policies are implemented and the new planning scheme is developed,” he said.
Council commenced training sessions on the implementation of the new policies this week.
“Feedback from development industry representatives who attended the training is very positive.
“They appreciate that council is willing to listen and interact with the business community and development industry.
“We need to talk and listen to each other to develop policies that work for us all. I thank the development industry for their constructive input into the refinement and implementation of these policies.
“We look forward to working with industry and the community in developing the new planning scheme and the priority infrastructure plans,” the Mayor said.
