Get into the swim of things in one of the region's nine council-operated swimming pools and recreation centres.

There's something for everyone and each facility boasts a clean, safe environment for the whole family to enjoy. Whether you are looking to get fit or simply cool off during the warmer months, our swimming pools are designed to meet the community's needs as well as impress visitors to the area.

Take your pick of indoor and outdoor pools, toddlers' pools and even slides and playgrounds; many of our aquatic centres have fitness programs and even child-minding facilities.

Cecil Plains Pool

With a 25-metre, six-lane, solar-heated chlorinated pool, the Cecil Plains Swimming Pool is a welcome addition to the community. Located on the corner of Cheetham Street and Russell Avenue, the pool is open between September and April each year.

There's a toddler's pool that is shade covered as well as learn to swim classes, keep watch program and seniors classes in the outdoor pool.

There's a kiosk for food and drink refreshments and the change rooms are clean and spacious.

The pool is open on New Year's Day, Australia Day and the Show Holiday. It is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and Good Friday.

On public holidays, the opening hours are 1.30pm-5.30pm.

Clifton Pool

In the heart of the fertile southern downs, Clifton Memorial Pool has a wonderful family atmosphere with a 25-metre, six-lane, solar-heated swimming pool on King Street.

The sun smart facility is partially covered and there's a wading pool for toddlers, learn to swim classes and plenty of community activities. Plus, there is a kiosk and change rooms so you can stay all day!

Open between September and April, it is only closed on Christmas Day. On public holidays, the Clifton Memorial Pool is open between 1.00pm and 5.00pm.

Crows Nest Pool

In the heart of Crows Nest township, the swimming pool is solar-heated for your enjoyment and put to bed each night under a thermal blanket.

Friendly staff keep a watchful eye over the pool's operation and are always ready to answer your queries and help you make the most of your time.

A covered grandstand gives a fine view of the 25-metre pool. Swaying palm trees, tunnel slide into the main pool, shaded wading pool, lawns and a basketball ring all contribute to a relaxed atmosphere.

A pool fence surrounds the youngster's playground to help keep them safe. Remember your children are your responsibility.

Millmerran Aquatic Centre

Newly refurbished, the Millmerran swimming complex is a fantastic community hub during the summer months.

Located in Commens Street, adjacent to the Indoor Sports Centre, the Olympic-sized swimming pool is heated and floodlit and plays host to many community activities thorughout the year.

The six-lane outdoor pool is ideal for competition, training and just cooling off. There's a shaded children's wading pool, learn to swim classes and covered granstand to suit a multiple of needs.

There is a kiosk in the facility and the Indoor Sports Centre next door offers gym equipment for fitness training.

The pool is only closed on Christmas Day and open New Year's Day, Australia Day and the Show Holiday.

Oakey Aquatic Centre

The vibrant township of Oakey has an Olypic-size swimming pool servicing the town and surrounding areas in the foothills of the Bunya Mountains.

The 50-metre, six-lane outdoor competition pool is located adjacent to the TRC Oakey Service Centre in Campbell Street.

There's a toddler's pool, good shade and plenty of opportunity to set up for the day in the grandstand with kiosk and change room facilities as well as club rooms within the complex.

Pittsworth Civic Pool

Enjoy a family outing in the pleasant surroundings at Pittsworth Civic Pool in Yandilla Street between September and April.

This fantastic 50-metre, six-lane, solar-heated swimming pool is hugely popular with locals and visitors alike and with part of the pool covered has a strong sun safe attitude. There is a shade covered toddler's pool, learn to swim classes and the Pittsworth Piranhas use the facility to train regularly.

Aquatic Life Skills is taught by accredited Austswim instructors and there are Royal Life Saving courses delivered as bookings demand.

Yarraman Memorial pool

Right in the centre of town, the Yarraman Memorial Pool is the hot spot for the community during the warmer months.

Located on the corner of the New England Highway and Margaret Street, the 25-metre outdoor pool is partially covered and solar heated for maximum enjoyment. The shade-covered toddler's pool will keep the kids entertained, there is a kiosk for refreshments and spacious change rooms.

Learn to swim classes are held throughout the season to ensure your family knows how to stay safe in the water. Classes can be booked by getting in touch with staff.
