Council projects for the current round of funding
Laurel Bank Park Electrical Improvements, Toowoomba
- This project involves the upgrade of the existing electrical infrastructure in the park to enable hosting of significant cultural events such as Carnival of Flowers and Pictures in the Park without having to use supplementary generators and associated equipment.
Laurel Bank Park Scented Gardens Waterwise Changes to Water Feature, Toowoomba
- The ponds are a significant feature of the scented garden in Laurel Bank Park and contribute to the sensory experience enjoyed within this part of the park. The project is addressing leakage to the pond structure and water consumption generally by reducing the volume of water required to maintain the ponds.
Development of Westbrook Hall Park, Harristown, Toowoomba
- This small local park was the site of Westbrook Hall which has heritage values as one of Toowoomba’s earliest residences. The site is now surrounded by residential development and a local park has been created with embellishments including installation of a playground, pathways and seating.
Development of Snapdragon Street Park, Middle Ridge, Toowoomba
- This local park is being developed to service the immediate residential area that surrounds it. Embellishments include a playground, shelter, seating and pathways.
Development of Collingwood Park, Darling Heights, Toowoomba
- This local park is being developed to service the immediate residential area surrounding it. Embellishments include a playground, shelter, seating and pathways.
Webb Park Improvements, East Toowoomba
- This district level park has been identified as a recreation area that offers unique views of the Lockyer Valley and highlights Toowoomba’s escarpment location and identity. The project will investigate opportunities to locate park infrastructure and playground equipment that takes advantage of the elevated views and slope to further develop the special attributes offered by this park in Toowoomba’s open space network.
Upgrade Sister Kenny Park, Nobby
- Embellishments for this park will concentrate on upgrading existing facilities including improved toilet facilities, barbecues and improved vehicle control.
Upgrade Factory Dam, Millmerran
- As the district level park in Millmerran this park is being further developed through the provision of playground equipment which expands the play opportunities for children at the park.
Upgrade Memorial Park and Drovers Rest, Cooyar
- Provision of shade over the playground, tree planting and possibly a public toilet have been identified by the community at Memorial Park in Cooyar as likely improvements to this important local park. These facilities are being costed and investigated to provide improvements at this park.
Upgrade Rotaract Park, Pittsworth
- This district level park will be upgraded to include new playground equipment, shaded seating and pathways to improve the useability and amenity of the parkland in Pittsworth.
Waterbird Habitat Boardwalk, Rangeville, Toowoomba
- A new boardwalk and viewing platform are proposed to replace a jetty that was removed from the park. The boardwalks will provide a generous viewing space from which park users can appreciate the ponds and parklands.
Millmerran Recreation Reserve Field Lighting, Millmerran
- This project will partially fund the upgrading of field lighting for sporting fields that accommodate sporting groups within the town and extending hours when these community facilities can be used.
Upgrade Jacquelyn Court Park, Oakey
- This local park has been master-planned and a shelter, pathways, vehicle control and tree planting are proposed to compliment the existing playground and improve the usability of the parkland.
Upgrade Memorial Park, Cambooya
- Memorial Park, adjacent to Cambooya Town Centre, is a well used and developed local park servicing the township. Upgrades to this park include new shelters and seating which will improve the amenity of the parkland within the town centre
