Cooby Dam wall remains closed due to flood damage.

Lake Cooby

Lake Cooby offers activities for all members of the family. There's plenty of good fishing spots and boat access (electric motors only) or perhaps you're into more strenuous water sports such as sailing or canoeing. But you don't have to be an angler or sailor to enjoy what Lake Cooby has to offer.

There are walking tracks for more energetic landlubbers and excellent shelters and free gas barbecue facilities for those who just want to spend a few lazy hours on a family picnic. A children's playground also caters for younger members of the family and toilet blocks have disabled access. Camping facilities are not available at Lake Cooby.

Lake Cressbrook

With fishing, boating, childrens playground, beach volleyball and excellent barbecue and picnic areas, Lake Cressbrook is a great place to relax. The children's playground, beach volleyball and barbecue facilities are free.

Lake Cressbrook is a leisurely 50 km drive from Toowoomba, and about 15 minutes drive from Crows Nest. It's easily accessible from the New England Highway via Pechey or Crows Nest or from the Esk-Hampton Road near Ravensbourne. A limit of 14 consecutive nights camping applies.

The boom gates at Lake Cressbrook are now fully operational and a $2.50 entry fee per vehicle applies. The vending machine accepts any denomination or combination of legal coins (except 5 cent pieces) up to a value of $2.50 but does not give any change.

The day use area is open from 6 am to 8 pm (September to April) and from 7am to 6 pm (May to August). Water based activities are not permitted outside these hours (campers included).

Lake Perseverance

You don't even have to get wet to enjoy what Lake Perseverance has to offer. Just take a drive across the dam wall to the recreation area. What could be better than enjoying a picnic or barbecue in a quiet bushland setting while overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Perseverance.

Lake Perseverance is a 40 kilometre drive from Toowoomba, much less from Crows Nest. It is easily accessible from the New England Highway at Pechey or Crows Nest or from the Esk-Hampton road near Ravensbourne. In fact, you must drive past Lake Perseverance if you're driving to Lake Cressbrook from Pechey.
