The Goombungee Library is located in the Cultural Centre next to Council's administration complex at 89 Mocatta Street. It was the second branch of the library service established in the former Rosalie Shire and opened in 1983. The Library moved from Council's complex to the new Cultural Centre in 2005.

Library membership is free to all residents and ratepayers, and you can join simply by providing some form of identification (i.e. driver's license) and completing an enrolment application at any of the Region's libraries.

There's no minimum joining age for library membership either, but a parent or guardian must endorse the enrolment application of any child under the age of 16.

Facilities available at this Library include:

  • Internet PCs are available for use. Bookings are required prior to use.
  • CD ROM: A CD-ROM player is available
  • Word processing: A word processing service is available
  • Photocopying: A photocopying service is available at 20c per A4 page
  • Goombungee Home Library Service: This service caters to the needs of Goombungee residents who are unable to visit the library due to medical, physical or other special reasons. Contact the library on (07) 4696 7938 for an application form to join this service.
  • After Hours Returns: A chute is provided at the entrance of the library for the return of books, etc when the library is closed.
  • Landcare: A selection of resources donated by local Landcare group is an integral part of the collection.
