The Local History Library holds a wealth of resources for people interested in the history of the local area. The valuable archival collection is of local, state and national significance. The collection holds records from local identities, businesses and many community organisations. The Toowoomba Chronicle and the Darling Downs Gazette are held on microfilm dating from the 1860's onwards. The Robinson Collection holds over five thousand items pertaining to Toowoomba and the Darling Downs and some Queensland and Australiana.
To access the newspapers by using the microfiche/film machines, it is advisable to book in advance. Please contact us. Bookings are taken for 2 hour sessions. Printing is available from these machines at a cost of 20 cents per page. The Robinson Collection and archival collection are not available for loan but can be viewed at the library.
