If you, or someone you know, is unable to access the library due to being home bound (either permanently or temporarily), the Homebound Library Service operates within the Toowoomba City and Highfields boundaries. This is a free service and to be eligible a doctor’s certificate is required.

How does the Homebound Library Service work?

Once membership has been approved, library staff will contact you and ask you for your reading preferences. Library staff will then choose books and other library material according to your needs. Books are delivered to your home every three weeks, by caring volunteers who generously give of their time to support this service.

Resources available for loan through the Homebound library include:

  • Books in regular and large print;
  • Audio books on cassette and CD;
  • Books in languages other than English;
  • Fiction and Non-Fiction books;
  • Magazines from our special collection;
  • Music CDs;
  • DVDs from our special selection, and
  • Bookstands.

To apply for membership to the Homebound Library Service, please call the team on 4688 6670.

We thank Mr Lex Graham and the Toowoomba East Rotary Club for making this service possible.
