The historic Newtown Park is bounded by Holberton, Taylor, Tor and Pottinger Streets. Of special interest to historians is the Entrance Pavilion off Holberton Street where the history of the park, the roses and its people (since 1912) is displayed on brass plaques in an artistic and easy-to-read form.

Rose Garden
The gardens are diamond shaped and feature circular rose pillars. Classic archways provide support for spectacular colour displays of climbing roses. Large, exotic trees provide a backdrop.

Heritage lights line the walkways and gazebos provide shelter.

From Holberton Street, you enter the State Rose Garden at Newtown Park via a pavilion that guides you to an enchanting walk. This leads to the expansive rose gardens. A romantic stroll down the path is a must in this rose-lover’s paradise.

A cascading sandstone fountain completes the picture.

Gazebo
A cast iron gazebo provides a unique backdrop to the rose gardens. It fills with colour during autumn and offers a classical area to exchange vows with your loved one.
