cobbdeviceToowoomba Regional Council supports the Cobb+Co Museum in an arrangement to provide free entry for all residents of the region.

Some background information on the National Carriage Factory Campaign:

  • Cobb+Co Museum’s National Carriage Factory features new exhibition space along side a unique demonstration and training site for heritage trades and crafts, as well as facilities for community use.

Thanks to more than two years of fundraising across the community, the turning of the first sod for the construction of Cobb+Co Museum’s National Carriage Factory development took place on 9 July 2009.

  • Member for Toowoomba North, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine, National Carriage Factory Campaign Committee Chair, Mary Wagner and Living Legend donors, Clive and Conchita Armitage conducted the turning of the first sod ceremony.
  • On 18 December 2008, Premier Anna Bligh MP visited Cobb+Co Museum to announce $4 million in state funding for the National Carriage Factory Development including Q150 legacy infrastructure program and existing TAFE funding.
  • $1.7 million was raised through local businesses and community donations including Clive and Conchita Armitage, Clive Berghofer, Phillip Guilfoyle, Heritage Building Society and Wippells Autos.
  • Queensland Museum Board committed $1 million to the project.
  • The tender was awarded to local firm Lainge O’Rourke and construction commenced on 13 July 2009.
