Cemetery Master Planning Project

Council's Community Development & Facilities staff are working on a Cemetery Master Plan which will encompass all 19 council controlled cemeteries.

The Master Plan will identify areas within our cemetery sites that may need improvement or expansion over the next 20 years. The Plan will give council an overview of each cemetery, including site details, statistics, processes, existing and future land availability, maintenance schedules, safety issues, etc. This, together with future population projections, death statistics, interment trends and capacity projections will be used to shape and determine how we plan and what we deliver at our cemeteries over the next two decades.

It is anticipated that this information collated in the form of GIS overlays, will form the basis of future budgets and also feed into the Toowoomba Regional Council Disaster Management Plan.
