Dogs that have been obedience trained are less likely to cause a nuisance. Therefore in the spirit of rewarding responsible dog owners, council offers a 50% registration discount for dogs that have reached an appropriate level of obedience from certified dog training providers. To qualify for this discount you must demonstrate that the dog has achieved the level of competency required by council.
A number of dog training services are available throughout the region that are certified to provide this training including the Toowoomba Dog Obedience Club Inc. Training is held every Tuesday at Norman Park, on the corner of Tor Street and Hursley Road, Toowoomba. Training sessions typically start at 7.30pm and runs to 9.00pm. Membership and booking fees apply.
Once your dog has qualified to the level of competency required, the Toowoomba Dog Obedience Club will forward a Council Obedience Certificate to Council who will then appropriately adjust their records to reflect that your dog qualifies for this discount for the next registration year.
All dogs must be vaccinated against parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis before attending the training session.
There is a club meeting held in the clubhouse at Norman Park on the 3rd Monday of every month at 7.30pm.
