Water supply, connection and maintenance

While we have had significant rain through the summer and the Wivenhoe pipeline has given us security of supply, our own water resources are still under pressure. No matter what the source - dam, bore or rainwater - we need to conserve every drop of water.

Leaks
Please report water leaks or water meter leaks. If it is a major leak, please contact the council immediately. Note that council is not responsible for any water lost on the property side of the meter.

Interference with water meters
Interference with water meters is prohibited. Please report any problems with your meter to the council as soon as possible.

Meters
All properties connected to council’s water supply are metered. Owners are required to maintain the meter surrounds to allow access by council officers. If owners are having difficulty reading their meter they should contact the local service centre.

Pollution
Issues relating to water pollution should be immediately reported to council and may include:

• contaminant to storm water drain, roadside gutter or water supply
• fish / bird kill
• sewerage overflow
• chemical / oil spill.
