Today deliveries began of a brochure that explains how our water will be recycled as part of the Water Futures project.

The flyers should be recognisable as official Toowoomba City Council publications and have the same appearance as the Water Book, which was delivered in March.

Council will be bringing out a series of flyers in the coming weeks as part of its education campaign for the Water Futures project.

“People are telling us they want more information,” Councillor Sue Englart said. “They prefer reading material over other formats so that is what we’re providing them with.”

“In the end, information is what will win this poll. Once people understand the water is safe, and it is the most sustainable solution for our water needs, then I believe they will gladly support the Water Futures project.

“The facts helped me to make my decision on Water Futures and I believe that the people of Toowoomba also need information before they can make an informed choice.”

The brochure maps out the recycling process. It shows the water cycle: from the city to Wetalla Water Reclamation Plant, to the new Advanced Water Treatment Plant, to Cooby Dam, then to Mt Kynoch and finally back to the city.

“The seven steps are explained in everyday language that people will understand,” Cr Englart said.

“The brochure also has some great quotes on it that will make people stop and think.”

Over the next week, every household in Toowoomba will receive a “How will our water be recycled?” flyer in their letterbox.
