Water taste testing on this weekend
Can you pick Toowoomba’s town water from 100% recycled water?
The proof is in the pudding and Councillors representing the Water Futures ‘yes’ case are giving Toowoomba residents a chance to taste it for themselves.
“The quality of 100% purified recycled water is better than the water we currently produce,” Deputy Mayor Joe Ramia said.
Cr Ramia and his fellow Councillors will be setting up a water tasting stand in Laurel Bank Park between noon and 1pm this Sunday May 28.
“People will be given three samples to try: Toowoomba’s water, bottled spring water and 100% recycled water from Singapore,” Cr Ramia said.
“Singapore has an Advanced Water Treatment Plant very similar to the Water Futures proposed plant, except ours includes an additional barrier of advanced oxidation.”
The water taste testing at Laurel Bank Park on Sunday is the first of a series of Toowoomba City Council’s ‘yes’ campaign events scheduled for the coming weeks.
The testing invitation is open to the Toowoomba public and the event is an opportunity to ask questions about the project as well as sample purified recycled water.
“The next opportunity for water tasting will be the following weekend at World Environment Day,” Cr Ramia said.
“There will be lots of opportunities for people to discuss the project and taste this water.”
For those unable to make this weekend’s tasting, Toowoomba City Council will have a stand at World Environment Day Sunday June 4 at Lake Annand.
