Shorter, softer showers at city pool
Shower users at Milne Bay Aquatic Centre can contribute to saving water.
The centre has borne the brunt of ongoing criticism about excessive water use in their showers.
However, upgraded water restrictors have been fitted to showers at the centre. The restrictors will further reduce water use to nine litres per minute compared with normal shower roses without restrictors that use up to 20 litres per minute.
“Milne Bay Aquatic Centre staff are being proactive about these complaints and have upgraded the shower restrictors to reduce patrons’ use of water,” Community Facilities Portfolio Chair Cr Regina Albion said.
“In addition, the change rooms are checked by lifeguards as often as possible to prevent unnecessary water wastage.
“We ask patrons to be aware of the length of time spent in the showers and to consider use of this precious resource.”
Cr Albion congratulated Milne Bay Aquatic Centre staff on their contribution and efforts towards saving water.
