Toowoomba City Council welcomed the results of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce survey which showed significant support for the Water Futures Project. Fifty seven percent of the businesses surveyed supported the project with forty percent opposing it and three percent abstaining.

Mayor Dianne Thorley today welcomed the release of a Queensland Government report into Toowoomba’s water options. “This  report proves what we have been saying for months, that no other option is as viable as Water Futures, on the grounds of cost, sustainability and environmental impact,” Cr Thorley said.

A recent survey of Toowoomba’s accommodation industry found 71% were in support of Toowoomba City Council’s Water Futures Project.
Fifty-eight businesses responded to the survey which included nearly all of the hotels, motels, caravan parks, apartments and B&B’s. The survey results are attached.

It’s clean, it’s safe and Toowoomba City Council is giving you the chance to taste it for yourself. Council will bring out the 100% recycled purified water for tasting at their stall on Sunday at World Environment Day celebrations at Lake Annand. “Some people wrongly believe we are asking them to drink sewage,” Cr Joe Ramia, with the portfolio for water, said. “What we are recycling is the water.”
