For new homes in a refuse collection area, contact council to obtain your bin(s). In some locations within Toowoomba Regional Council, a new wheelie bin will not be issued unless the final inspection of the dwelling and plumbing/drainage has been approved by council.
Broken or stolen bins can be either repaired or replaced. Contact Council to report any maintenance requirements for your bins.
If you live outside a rubbish collection area, you can purchase a bin. You are responsible for taking the contents to your nearest waste facility. Gate fees apply for all waste.
Wheelie bins can be purchased from JJ Richards at a cost of $90 for personal use (No garbage pick up service included). This is for either a 240L bin or a 140L bin. The 140L bins are not purchased in bulk, which is the reason for both sizes being the same price. Bins must be picked up from JJ Richards in North Street, Toowoomba. There is no choice of colour.
Where a waste collection service is provided, ratepayers may arrange an additional service. The cost of the service will be charged to the rates notice. Tenants must first have the written permission of their property owner to have additional garbage services at their leased premsies. Contact council to order another bin.
Refuse collection service continues as normal during all public holidays.
Excess weight or excess capacity (overflowing) bins will not be collected.
Bins should be placed on the kerb, a maximum of one metre from the kerb edge, with the wheels and handles facing your house by 6.00 am on collection days. When placing more than one bin out, ensure there is a minimum of 1m between each bin.
If there is no kerb, place in a safe position one metre from the edge of the bitumen/gravel. Make sure that there are no obstacles blocking access to your bin, such as overhanging tree or parked cars. If your bin is placed incorrectly, collection is not guaranteed.
