Council controls trade waste through its Trade Waste Policy and Trade Waste Environmental Management Plan (TWEMP) in combination with state legislation. Council issues permits to control the amount and type of trade waste being discharged into the sewerage system. Industrial and commercial users are required to pay trade waste charges according to the quality and quantity of waste they discharge.
These are annual charges and take into consideration council's cost of transporting and treating the waste. The Trade waste environmental management plan also acts to reduce pollution, lower risks to public health, promote conservation, and provide information for future planning.
All trade waste application forms and information sheets can be found below in related documents. For further information please contact council.
