Globally and locally, awareness of climate variability and climate change is important for residents and businesses in our community. Changes in weather (temperature, rainfall, storms, wind), water availability, sea level, wild fire incidence and resource availability are possible.

Specific climate changes could be:

  • An increase in average temperatures.
  • An increase in the number of hot days over 35°C.
  • A decrease in average annual rainfall.

As local, state and national responses are developed for living with the impacts of climate variability and climate change, a range of information is available to raise awareness of the situation and the impacts. This content serves to:

  1. Provide information and answers to commonly asked questions.
  2. Provide tools and information on climate change for residents and businesses.
  3. Outline the areas where council is taking action.
