ClimateSmart home service program

The Queensland government's ClimateSmart home service program commenced on 5 January 2009. The program aims to provide services to 260,000 households across Queensland, over two years.

The program involves a licensed electrician visiting homes and performing an energy efficiency service. This includes:

Climate change

Globally and locally, awareness of climate variability and climate change is important for residents and businesses in our community. Changes in weather (temperature, rainfall, storms, wind), water availability, sea level, wild fire incidence and resource availability are possible.

Specific climate changes could be:

  • An increase in average temperatures.
  • An increase in the number of hot days over 35°C.
  • A decrease in average annual rainfall.
