Council recognises the important contribution community organisations make to the social wellbeing and economic prosperity of the broader community through a range of first-class events that celebrate the region's character and cultural diversity.
The Event Support Grant Program seeks to achieve this objective by providing support for activities that fit within one of the following categories:
Major event
Major events are defined as large scale events running longer than one day involving in excess of 5,000 patrons, with the potential to attract substantial visitors from outside the region and provide significant economic and social benefits to the region.
Preference will be given to applications that include one of the following priorities:
Regional event
A regional event is defined as an event attracting between1,000 and 5,000 people with the potential to attract visitors from across the region and southeast Queensland and provide reasonable economic and substantial social benefits to the region.

Community event
Community events are those that attract up to 1,000 people and that are of interest to a local community or a small segment of the region. These events encourage and support activity that captures the imagination and attention of the community and provide fun, exciting entertainment programs where entry is open to the public at a subsidised rate or free-of-charge.
Preference will be given to applications that include one of the following priorities:
Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their detailed questions about projects with council's Senior Administration Officer in the Tourism and Events Branch prior to submission of an application.
