TRC/EMQ presenters visit Gowrie State School

Jay Dobbin (Emergency Management Queensland) and Norman Fry (TRC Disaster Management Coordinator) visited the Gowrie State School on Wednesday 5 May to provide presentations on disasters and health in disasters issues. 57 students from years 5,6,and 7 attended the presentations. The presentations covered the types and categories of disasters, the phases of disasters, the health issues associated with a disaster. The presentations provided a good opportunity for the students to interact with the presenters and discuss the issues and various solutions. The students received a CD rom each containing an interactive package to assist them to be better prepared for hazards and emergencies.
