On Friday 9 October 09, the 2nd Toowoomba Scout Group visited the Toowoomba State Emergency Services Group. Thirty two scouts received presentations from the Toowoomba Regional Council Disaster Management Coordinator and the Emergency Management Queensland Youth Development Officer on disasters and the role of the Toowoomba Regional Council in disasters.
After the presentations the scouts then had the opportunity to get some hands on instruction from SES instructors on radio communications, chainsaw safety, casualty evacuation and height safety. The evening was part of the Toowoomba Regional Council's and the Emeregency Management Queensland's combined education program for young people regarding the subject of disasters.
