The State Emergency Service (SES) forms a part of Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) which is a Division of the Queensland Government's Department of Community Safety (DCS). QLD Government and the Toowoomba Regional Council maintain an important partnership in assisting SES volunteers to provide a valuable volunteer emergency service to their local communities.

The SES is a volunteer organisation and designed to help Queensland communities in times of emergency and disaster. Each year the SES receives thousands of calls for assistance. SES volunteers care about their communities and are not paid for the great work that they do.

The EMQ/SES Groups/Toowoomba Regional Council provide support to the SES volunteers through the provision of the following services:

  • Volunteer Management;
  • Resource and Asset Management;
  • Education and Training;
  • Communications; and
  • Public Awareness and Public Relations
There are currently ten SES groups within the Toowoomba Regional Council area. These are located as follows: Clifton (incuding a cadet unit) Cambooya, Cecil Plains, Crows Nest, Goombungee, Millmerran, Oakey, Pittsworth, Quinalow (Stores Depot only), Toowoomba, Yarraman The SES Local Controller for the above groups is the Toowoomba Regional Council Disaster Management Coordinator (07 4688 6403).
