The Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has a legislated responsibility to establish a Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) in accordance with s.29 of the Disaster Management Act 2003. The TRC LDMG is the body that ensures TRC has appropriate disaster management arrangements (plans, committees, response capabilities and a program to tie all these aspects together) in place. During an event the TRC LDMG provides the forum for cooperation between all agencies involved in the event. The TRC LDMG provides strategic management of community consequences by formulating policy, setting broad priorities and disseminating public information on the disaster event (Daily implementation and coordination is conducted by the operational elements from the TRC Local Disaster Coordination Centre). The objectives of the LDMG are to:
- ensure there is a current LDMP and that TRC has an integrated disaster management capability;
- ensure that the disaster management system is reviewed and tested;
- foster an all-agencies approach and a high level of cooperation; and
- activate in a disaster to exercise strategic level management of TRC response to, and recovery from, the event for the benefit of the community
In the 'Related documents' below you will find minutes from the Local Disaster Management Group for recently conducted Meetings. Note that they do not include notes from operational meetings of the LDMG during the storm/flood events.
