Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) has joined with Australian Red Cross to provide a Queensland version of the booklet: Emergency REDiPlan: Household preparedness for people with a disability, their families and carers. The REDiPlan initiative is a step toward building more resilient communities in Queensland and improves the ability for people with physical disabilities, and their carers to prevent, prepare, respond to and recover from emergencies. The booklet provides worksheets on the four steps to prepare for emergencies and is tailored to meet specific needs of people with a physical disability. These include:

  • Step 1 - Be informed
  • Step 2 - Make a Plan
  • Step 3 - Get an emergency kit
  • Step 4 - know your neighbours.

REDiPlan includes four easy steps to prepare your household for an emergency, as well as a workbook section to record a plan for your household. The plan and supporting information can be found at www.redcross.org.au (opens in new window).
