The natural disasters in Queensland may reduce the capacity of many businesses to retain employees. In the longer term, many industries may find it difficult to rebuild without assistance. It is also important to implement jobs and skill preservation strategies to help industry and businesses maintain their workforce.

Where is the focus?
- Funding priority skills development in affected regions and industries for existing workforce development, future workforce preparation and Indigenous skilling opportunities
- Assistance measures to support apprentice and trainee retention
- Rebuilding community capacity in affected regions to support local industry, and maximise funding opportunities
- Providing employment and work experience opportunities for eligible people on projects targeted at rebuilding community and public infrastructure
