Up to $500,000 in federal government grants are available to retrofit a commercial office building, hotel or shopping centre to become more energy efficient.
To be eligible for funding an applicant must able to demonstrate the level of greenhouse gas emissions prior to commencement of the project and the projected savings in greenhouse gas emissions likely to result from the project.
Examples of eligible Green Building Fund projects may include:
- upgrades to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems
- changes to the building fabric, such as external glazing and shading
- building management and control systems to enable better monitoring of energy use
- application of co-generation systems or renewable energy.
