Wanganui Mayor visits for Sister Cities Australia 2011 Conference

In August 2011, Wanganui Mayor Cr Annette Main and the Infrastructure Manager Julian Reweti visited Toowoomba to participate in the Sister Cities Australia 2011 Annual Conference hosted by Toowoomba Regional Council.

Mayor Main and Mr Reweti joined 75 other international delegates from Toowoomba's three sister cities to celebrate the successes and the significant milestones since forming sister city relationships - 30 years with Wanganui, 20 years with Takatsuki, Japan and nine years with Paju, South Korea.

Mayor Main and Mr Reweti participated in the conference, undertook sight inspections and discussed work practices with council officers during their visit.

During the Cultural Diversity Dinner, the Whanau Tau Toko Maori Group from Brisbane provided a small insight into New Zealand Maori culture with a very entertaining song and dance performance.  Conference delegates were also invited to participate in the Haka.
