Toowoomba Regional Council visit to Wanganui in December 2010

A small delegation from Toowoomba Regional Council visited our New Zealand sister city, Wanganui, from 9 to 12 December 2010.  Delegates included Mayor Peter Taylor and wife, Rosemary, Councillor Carol Taylor and Principal Economic Development Officer - Business and Industry Shamus Garmany .

The visit was a fast and furious one and included seeing some of Wanganui's highlights.  Wanganui Jockey Club, Letham Stables, Nga Tawa Equestrian School, Manawatu Race day, Chronicle Glass (manufacturing and blowing), specialist infrastructure (wastewater plant and Virginia Lake) and the new Visitor Information Centre (I-site) were all part of the whirlwind tour.

It was Mayor Taylor's first visit to Wanganui since being elected.  The delegation also took the opportunity to meet the newly elected Mayor of Wanganui, Annette Main, and her council.
