Clewley Park detention basin upgrade

Community feedback is being sought on council plans to upgrade the Clewley Park detention basin and park features, opposite Toowoomba Hospital. The upgrade will extend the water detention basin to reduce downstream flooding and erosion of West Creek. Residents are invited to an information session and sausage sizzle at Clewley Park on Saturday, May 26 from 10am to 2pm. All feedback will be considered during the design process.

 Jellicoe St bridge

Several design adjustments to the Jellicoe Street bridge plans have made it necessary to delay the project completion date to mid June. Council is working with neighbouring businesses to improve damaged carpark areas near the site and to landscape, stabilise and beautify nearby areas.  Workshops to develop arts ideas

Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery wants feedback from the region’s arts community in formulating a number of activities as part of the state-wide Animating Spaces project being run by Artslink Queensland. The project

aims to revitalise places and spaces through community-led arts activities and events. TRAG is hosting community workshops to develop concepts for exhibitions, performances and artworks on Thursday May 24 from 5pm (for a 5.30pm start) to 7pm and on Friday May 25 from 8.45am (for a 9am start) to 10.30am. Queensland Day celebrations

The entire family will enjoy Queensland Day celebrations from 10am-2pm on Sunday, June 3 at Picnic Point. Following the official welcome and flag raising at approximately 10am, local artists will provide a diverse range of entertainment and there’s plenty of childrens rides for youngsters. Free soup and potatoes from 10am, free sausage sizzle from 11am and free fairy floss;   although supplies of food are limited. To enable set-up and for safety reasons during the event, the Picnic Point car park will be closed from 6am to 3pm. 

 Hampton Food and Arts Festival

A diverse range of arts will be on display, cooking demonstrations and fresh local produce and gourmet food for sale at the 10th Hampton Food and Arts Festival tomorrow (Sunday, May 20). There is entertainment for all age groups so bring the entire family to the Hampton Food and Arts Festival. 

 Writing workshops at city library

 Scheduled road reconstruction works as part of the NDRRA flood recovery program are continuing in the city and east and west of Oakey.
