A streamlined approval process for duplexes and multiple dwelling units in Toowoomba city was launched early in May.
Under the Target 5 Days project, council aims for a five-day turnaround for low-risk, complying development applications.
Target 5 Days is a Council of Mayors(SEQ) initiative, which is funded through the Australian Government's Housing Affordability Fund.Customers planning a residential development are encouraged to use council's new application kits for multiple dwelling units (three to 10 units maximum) and dual-occupancy developments.
Kits are designed to help customers prepare applications in order for council to make the fastest assessment possible.
While the many on-going development assessment improvements being undertaken by council before the T5 project will continue, further application kits will be developed in the future.Initially, application kits will apply to the Toowoomba Planning Scheme 2003.
The aim of the Target 5 Days project is to make selected, low-risk complying residential developments not only faster to approve, but cheaper, by offering up to a 25% discount off the relevant development application fee. Application kits are available from the Toowoomba Service Centre, 4 Little Street, or can be downloaded from www.toowoombaRC.qld.gov.au/fasttrack Enquiries can be directed to council's Duty Planner on
