No less than 161,000 seedlings will mature into blooming beauties in the city’s public parks and gardens by the time the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers occurs in mid September.
Approximately 77,000 annual seedlings and 9,000 bulbs will transform Laurel Bank Park along with some 4,000 annuals in areas of the CBD.
Meanwhile, around 84,000 seedlings have been planted by the Gardens North team in Queens Park, Picnic Point and at various city intersections.Visitors to city parks will notice a significant increase in floral displays this year due to improved water supplies. In line with council’s water conservation plan, previously fallow gardens have been replanted with spring flowers. Gardens at Toowoomba Aerodrome, for example, are being planted to flower for the first time since 2007.
