New residents offered a warm welcome

Anyone who has packed their bags and moved on knows it can be quite daunting coming to a new country, relocating interstate or even setting up home in an unfamiliar city.

And once you finally get past the stresses that accompany moving house, it still takes a while to settle into a strange neighbourhood and get a feel for your new surroundings.

To help make it easier, residents who have moved to the Toowoomba region in the past 12 months are invited to Toowoomba's Warm Welcome function.

Held annually, this year's event will take place at the Cobb and Co Museum from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Friday, February 24 and will be a fun and informative evening where residents can meet other newcomers to the area.

Toowoomba Regional Council mayor Peter Taylor, councillors and staff will be on hand to give residents an insight into their new home and explain a bit of its history, its hidden treasures and the countless benefits that come from living in one of Australia's more progressive cities.

The event allows residents to learn more about the services and community groups in the area and also receive a free guided tour of the impressive Cobb and Co Museum.

The museum is located at 27 Lindsay Street, Toowoomba – with ample parking available behind the museum and outside the main entrance.

For residents wishing to bring their children, there will be free child minding and activities available for ages 2+.

The Toowoomba's Warm Welcome function is provided free of charge, but anyone wishing to attend is asked to RSVP to Kevin Currie 4688 6778 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Wednesday, February 22.

Places are limited, so please register early.
