About Council News & publications News releases Chill out to music in the parks this Sunday

Toowoomba Regional Council's program of live music in the city's parks on summer Sundays will kick off this weekend (January 8).

The popular Summer Tunes program features an eclectic mix of performers at four Toowoomba parks – Queens Park, Laurel Bank Park, Picnic Point and Newtown Park State Rose Garden.

Everyone is invited to take along a picnic, chairs or a rug and relax to live music each Sunday until the end of February.

The sounds of Raven Lamont with Celtic harp and songs of love, life and journeys will be heard in the children's playground area of Queens Park from 10am to noon. Adults can relax while children have their faces painted by Katrina from Big Top Face Painting.

Picnic Point, home to the Big Bands, will see the re-emergence of The Damian Black Band featuring Dale Robbins & Stephen Henry, from noon to 3pm. These international performers, presenting a mix of classic songs together with some great originals, are not to be missed.

Laurel Bank Park, from noon to 3pm, will be the perfect venue for a picnic while listening to Band Co, a local four piece rock band, playing favourites from the 70s.

For the more sedate music menu, why not head along to Newtown Park State Rose Garden from noon for music in the roses when bush ballads, country and alternative music will be performed by Broxburn Music Club of Pittsworth.
