Toowoomba Regional Council is urging residents to get behind the pedal power push for Wednesday's (October 12) National Ride to Work Day activities.
Council is joining supporting groups including the Toowoomba Bicycle Users' Group (TBUG) to promote the national day.
Council's Infrastructure Services portfolio leader Cr Carol Taylor said apart from enjoying a more leisurely wheel to work, the day highlighted the environmental, health and cost benefits of cycling.
Cr Taylor said 28km of on-road bikelanes across Toowoomba city offered routes for recreational cyclists as well as lanes for people riding to and from work.
"Riding to work is an option which the national day broadcasts to people beyond the regular cycling community," Cr Taylor said.
Cyclists can register at http://ride2work.com.au/ and are welcome to attend Wednesday's "end of day celebration" at Oxygen Café (Ruthven-Little streets corner) from 4.45-5.30pm.
