Potential trainees and apprentices are invited to learn more about Toowoomba Regional Council's training and apprenticeship opportunities at an information session being held at the Empire Church Theatre, Toowoomba next Tuesday October 4 commencing at 6.30pm.

Opportunities exist for 35 fulltime trainees and seven apprentices in 2012.

Last year, council employed 35 full-time trainees and apprentices and 12 school-based trainees and apprentices across the region.

These apprentices and trainees joined more than 1,600 Toowoomba Regional Council staff in a great range of careers, from horticulture to drafting, and information technology to administration.

Seven Government Apprenticeship Program (GAP) positions and 35 First Start positions are being offered in 2012 in the following areas:

  • Electrician
  • Boilermaker
  • Laboratory
  • Horticulture
  • Automotive
  • Engineering (Technical)
  • Business
  • Plumber
  • Diesel Fitter
  • Water Industry
  • Land Conservation
  • Transport/Logistics
  • Information Technology
  • Library

The trainee and apprenticeship positions will be advertised in late October, closing November 19 2011. Applicants should keep an eye on council’s website www.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au/jobs where the traineeships and apprenticeships will be advertised.

Applicants are encouraged to apply for all positions that interest them and submit a separate application for each one.
