Anyone seeking employment or experience in the aged care sector now has a useful tool at their fingertips.
The Aged Care Skills Formation Strategy (Toowoomba) has developed an Expression of Interest for Employment form to assist interested people gain employment or experience within the aged care sector.
The strategy is an initiative of Skills Queensland and is hosted by the Toowoomba Regional Council.
Environmental and Community Services portfolio leader Cr Bill Cahill welcomed the new employment form as a useful way to streamline the recruitment process within the aged care sector in this region.
“The form is mainly designed for front desk and administration areas of all aged and community care facilities to hand out to those seeking employment.
“The applicant simply fills out the form and returns it to the aged or community care facility where they made their enquiry,” Cr Cahill said.
Alternatively, it can be downloaded from www.agedcaretoowoomba.com.au .
Once completed, the form can be hand delivered or posted to as few or as many facilities within the Toowoomba region as the applicant wants.
“Unlike standard employment application forms, this form is designed to provide aged care facilities with a clear idea of an applicant’s suitability for employment within the sector,” Cr Cahill said.
“It also provides interested people with a uniform approach to gaining access to the industry, either as a volunteer, new recruit or as an experienced potential employee.”
The Aged Care Skills Formation Strategy group is asking organisations involved with employment, education and training within the TRC region to promote the form as the preferred method of contact with aged and community care facilities in this region.
The ‘Expression of Interest for Employment’ has been endorsed by aged and community care facilities within the TRC area and will also be available on the Aged and Community Care website.
Skills Formation Strategies (SFS) provide an opportunity for industries to work together while seeking assistance from the Queensland Government and other stakeholders to analyse and address emerging opportunities.
