Toowoomba Regional Council is advising motorists that access to the Bedford Street Waste Management Centre via Mort Street and/or Greenwattle Street to Hermitage Road will remain closed for a further three weeks.
The closure is required to enable wastewater works to be undertaken by Council's contractor on the infrastructure projects to transfer sewage from Oakey and Westbrook to Council's Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility. Access to the Waste Management Centre is via Boundary Street off Bridge Street via Pedersen, Hendy and Bedwell streets to Hermitage Road.
Detour signage is in place but, due to the road network in the area, lengthy detours will be required if people continue to use Greenwattle or Mort streets as their route to the landfill.
People intending to travel to the landfill are encouraged to plan their trip.
Alternate routes to the Bridge and Boundary streets intersection should be planned to avoid the road closure and minimise travel times.
Council thanks motorists for their understanding during the works and regrets any inconvenience caused by the closure and detour arrangements.

"The Library is , for people like me who are alone, a refuge. I come several times each week, and have only ever been treated with kindness and compassion." Verbal comment by library patron.
